General

Marksmans are secretive, sly and always hit every bottle at the local fair's rifle game. The class is probably the easiest to get started with, especially for first person shooter fans. The controls and mechanisms are fairly intuitive, point and shoot for victory! Each faction has a more offensively minded class, such as the templar's blademaster, the cabalist's evoker and in the hunter's case: the marksman. The Marksman specializes in taking down enemies from a distance, with an assortment of guns at its disposition, everything from dual pistols to powerful two handed cannons. The class's associated skills tend to increase the effectiveness of one's gun attacks, such as increasing speed and accuracy for a period of time.

  • Faction: Hunter
  • Style: Long range attacks

Skills

These are the only skills that I can confirm for the moment, many have come up over the past year or two, but there isn't any official word of whether they will make the final game or not. This skill listing will be updated with more substantial information once we have access to the game (either open beta or with HGL's release). Expect each class to have roughly 30 skills available at release.

Confirmed Skills

Image:unknown_icon_skill.jpg Pinpoint
This skill switches players into first person and zooms in through a sniper scope. It greatly reduces a player's rate of fire, but overcompensates by dramatically increasing damage and range benefits. Players are still capable of looking around quickly when zoomed, and the skill doesn't unsteady your sight. Pinpoint also groups the shots of weapons that would otherwise spread out into tighter bundles. Thus, it's good for use not just with a rifle but also with shotgun-style weapons that shoot all over the place like the Char Buster.
Image:unknown_icon_skill.jpg Rapid Fire
For a few seconds players become immobile while spraying ammunition with a low accuracty and range but a huge increase in rate of fire. Ideally you'd want to use this against a large monster that's in your face (note: your survival not guaranteed) or a pack of weaker monsters that are closing in on you.
Image:unknown_icon_skill.jpg Tactical Stance
Increases critical chance and range, but renders you temporarily immobile. May also include some form of hit point regen.

Unconfirmed Skills

The following is a list of skills mentioned within the past six months, but cannot be confirmed to be still in the game or will make the cut by release.

Primary Skills
Image:unknown_icon_skill.jpg Riccochet
Following a critical hit, there is a chance that nearby bullets will riccochet off a wall and hit a foe.
Image:unknown_icon_skill.jpg Targetted Bounce
Following a critical hit, there is a chance that future hits will bounce off and hit nearby foes.
